OAMARU GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
OAMARU, July 15, Transactions in wheat have been limited in number this week, and most of the sales have I:>een to local millers, outsiders finding thy can buy cheaper in Canterbury. Velvet and Tuscan in mixed lines have changed hands at 3s 4d less commission and 3s 3£,< l net, and velvet and red chaff at 3s 2Jd. Velvet in straight lines has found purchaseis at equal to 3s 3£d less commission at sidings. Sixteen hundred sacks of Velvet in one line were taken at 3s 2d, the same being from South Canterbury, whence there is a good deal of wheat offering at up to 3s 3d. The oat market is very quiet. Gartons have been sold at 2s 3id f.0.b., and for best samples 2s 2d to 2s 2Jd at sidings are the current rates. No sales of Danish are reported, quotations being 2s to _2s Id. The potato market improved in tone during the week and prices are firmer, £9 to £9 5s at sidings being the figures at which business is now being done, while £10 f.o.b. has also been obtained for table Derwents, a few shillings more being given in several cases. The Wanaka took a fair quantity from this port for the North Island during the week.
