July 6. — About 30 gentlemen met in Pine Bash Hotel on. "the evening of the Bth. uit. ' to bid farewell to Mr John "Welsh, manager on Mt H. Car/swell's Pine Bush Estate, who •was leaving fox Clifton Estate, "Waiwera South. Mar James J_«. G-ilkison occupied the ohair, and Mr "William Couaer the vice-chair. The usual toasts were honoured, songs were sung, and recitations given. Mr "Welsh wag presented with a handsome travelling rug. The occasion was also take-n to present Mr I Duncan. X.-err, faarrncT, Titiroa. -with, a case of pipes, on the eve of his depaiiure for Soot- j land. Mr "William Hamilton, Mr Car-swell's new manager ou Pine Bush Estate, was given a hearty welcome to the district.
