The interim dredgemastera' examination was held in the Mines Office, Dunedin. on 22nd ult. Certificates of competency have been issued to T. A. Graham, Gore; W. J. Ritchie. Cromwell; A. Anderson, Alexandra, South ; aud A. Faithful, Bartnockburn.

REPORTS FROM WORKING DRF.DGES The return from t.he Paterson's Freehold Ko. 2 dredge last week was 13oz lOdwt for 127 hours' work. The return from the No. 1 machine has not yet come te band. Tlie return from the Paterson's Freehold No. 1 dredge last w-eek was 13oz sdwt. The f-^cretary (Mr W. E. C. Reid) reports

The secretary of the Maj&lerton God Dredging Company reports a return of 16oz 12dwt for 250 hours' dredging. Messrs Johnstone and 1 Scott, of Canada, Reef, have had a wa-sh-up fioni 30 tons of quailz for a return of 12oz. The niasteT of the Junction Eleetiic dredge wires having washed up for a return of 18oz 13dwt; also that lie had stopped on Friday to put in the lower tumbler. The secretary of the Three-mile (Greenstone Creek) Co. Teports a return of 12oz Bdwt for 100 hours' dredging. The Big-nell's No Town dredgemaster wires : " Washed up for 21oz lOdwt for broken fortnight's work; have been heavy floods in the creek, a&d still raining.' 4
