ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

CHRISTCHURCH, July 4.

At Addington live stock market to-day there were moderate yardings of nearly all classes of stock and a fair attendance. Prime beef 3old at about the previous week's rates, and theT6 was no change in fat lanibs, while stora sheep again sold -well. Fat wethers were very firni'j and showed some advance, while ewes were rather easier. Pigs of ell classes were firmer. There was a better sale for store cattle, but dairy cows brought only moderate prices. Store Sheep. — A small yarding of store sheep included some good lines of ewes and wethers, and there was again a keen demand for all classes. Among the sales were 100 fcur-tooth ewes at 26s Bd, 143 two-tooths at 26s 8d; 65 sound-mouth, 17s; 274 two and four-tooth wethers, 21s Id; 125, at 103 6d; 41 at 19s 6d; 93 hoggets, 15s 3d; 58, at 14s "7d; 67, at 14» 7d; 90, at 14s 3d; 458, at Us to 14s Id; and 294, at 12s 74

Fat Hoggets. — There were 2000 penned, the quality again being ■ very mixed. There was keen competition among the export buyers, and the previous week's prices were firmly maintained. Prime freezers made 18s to 21s ; extra, to 24s Bd^ and lighter sorts, 13s 2d to 17s 6d.

Fat Sheep.— The supply was a moderate one in point of numbers, and included some prime lines of wethers and ewes. The bulk of the yarding was wethers, and for these there was a strong demand throughout, and prices in a number of cases showed an advance. Ewes sold well in the early part, but afterwards became somewhat more difficult to dispose of. The range of prices was : Prime wethers, 23s to 265; extra, to 295; lighter, 18s lOd to 22s 6d; prime ewes, 20s to 22s 6d ; extra, to 245 ; medium, 17s to 19s ; aged, 13s 6d to 16s 6d ; good to prime merino wethers, 16s to 18s; extra, to 23& sd.

Fat Cattle.— l 97 head yarded, a fair proportion of which was of prime quality, and for this description last week's prices were well mai&tained. There was an advance in the values of inferior beef owing to the competition that was manifested against hawkers and some of the small butchers. Steers made £6 15s to £12 15s; heifers, £5 to £9 2s 6d ; and cotvs. £i 5s to £7 7s 6d — equal to 22s 6d to 25s for prime and 18s to 22s for inferior to medium per 1001b. Veal calves were in strong demand, and sold at an advance in price, and ranged from 7s 6d to £3 15s, according to size and quality. Store Cattle.— The entry was the best seen in the yards for some time, and included, a large line from the south, which were bought by a Peninsula grazer. Three and four-year-old steers sold at £5; two-year-old steers, £3 5s to £3 10s; two-year-old heifers, £3; eighteenmonths, 25s to 40s. The dairy cows were a moderate lot, and the best price was £7 15s. Pigs. — A small yarding resulted in prices being rather firmer owing to shortness of supplies. Baconer3 made 35s to 455, and heavier to 5Ss — equal to Sjd per lb; heavy porkers, 28s to 365, and lighter 20s to 27d (id— equal to 4id to 4Jd per lb ; large stores, 15s to 235, medium, 10s to 14s 6d; aud weaners, 3s to Bs.
