CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT. (Press, 23rd inst.) The grain market has been exceptionally quiet during the wesk, there being little offering, and buyers are evidently not anxious to purchase. No sales of any consequence are, therefore, reported. The Ripple has arrived from Chatham Island, bringing 400 sack* of potatoes. Locally grown potates are dull of sale. Up-to-Dates, for seed, are most in demand. The undermentioned are the prices paid to farmers, at country stations, free of comniission. except where otherwise stated . — Wheat. — In good condition: Tuscan, 3s 3d; pearl, 3s 3d; Hunters, 3s 2d, at country stations. Oats.— Milling Canadians, 2s 2d to 2s 3d; Gartons, 2s Id to 2s 2d ; sparrowbills, 2s to 2s Id; duns, 2s Id to 2s 2d; Danish, 2s to 2s Id, at country stations. Bariey. — Medium quality, 3s to 3s 6d ; feed lines, 2s 6d to 2s 9d, at country stations. Beans, 3s 3d to 3s 6d. Peas.— Blue Prussians, 3s 6d to 3s 8d; Partridge, 3s 3d to 3s Bd. Cocksfoot.— 141b seed, 3Jd to 4&; 12lb to 131b seed, 3id to 3Jd, according to condition ; badly discoloured, 3d. Ryegrass, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; heavy, 3s ; Italian, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Cowgrass, 7d to fid. White clover, od to 7d. Flour, £8 10s per tonBran, £3 15s. Pollard, £5. Oatmeal, £13. Oatsheaf Chaff.— Prime, 60s to G2s 6d. ASHBURTON GRAIN MARKET. Wheat. — There has nga-m been a slightly ; battar demand for miiiinfi lines, although the
,1 -v JSI price has been a halfpenny per bushel lower than rates quoted a fortnight ago. Seveial holders, however, have decided to sell rather than hold and cart when the roads are in bad order. There has been but litt'.e outside demand. To-day's values are: Tuscan, 3s 3d; pearl, 3s 2d; Hunters, 3s Id. Oats. —There has been very little business, tiere being but few oats en offer and very little demand, the bulk of the trade now going to ths south, where cheaper oats, although more weathered, aie on offer.
