THE DEATH OF MR SEDDON.

LONDON, June 20. Sir J. G. WaTd, in a message to the New Zealand public, says: "I deeply regret that I am unable to pay my last personal tribute to my respected old friend and colleague, and yet grateful for the opportunity of taking part in the beautiful and touching memorial service at St. Paul's Cathedral. The large and varied character of t>he gathering was the greatest possible tribute to Mr Seddon's memory, and the grief manifested shows how deeply bis services, beyond New Zealand's shores, as well as within the colony, are recognised in the heart of ihe Empire. Such sympathy will help to soften the terrible blow which the widow and family sustained."
