jTust a dream-casket shattered, I A smile subdued by » tear, A summer rose, spoiled, scattered, A lova that was dear — too dear. Juat a heart — was it broken? ! An hour — O shall it return? A drear sigh, and a token ; | But the west — fires, glowing, burn. i Jugt when the world seemed kindlyAll the days were fsrfry dreams — ■ I toiled, but I toiled blindly, ; And clouds havo conquered the gleams'. 1 Hopes of my world lie sleeping; Its chosen and banned find rest.
