MEETING OF CRKIUTOBS.

(Fsom Oue Own Coerespondent ) OAMARU, May 2. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Alfred Avery, bankrupt, was held to-day. Among the unsecured creditors the following Dunedin houses appeared: — Thomson, Bridger, and Co., £5 Oe 3d ; Andrew Lees, £21 13s 6d; Chemical Stores Co., £7 10s; Smith and Smith (Ltd.), £106 4s 8d ; Guthrie, "Bowron, and Co., £50 4s 9d : Bin?, Harris, and Co., £20 3s ; Butterworth Bros., £7. Other large creditors were : Price and Co. (Wellington), £74 7s 7d ; William Bee (Oamaru), £30; Booth, Macdonald. and Co. (Christchurch), £24 12s 2d ; New Zealand Express Co., £26 0s 8d ; Jas. Craig and Co. (Oamaru), £80; New Zealand Loan and M.A. Co. (Oamaru), £104 18s 8d ; Bruce Christie and Co. (Oamaru), £53; Thomas Kennedy (Oamaru), £30; J. Bulleid and Co. (Oamaru), £31 13s 6d ; National Bank, £22 ss; M'Callum and Co. (Oamaru), £50 15s 7d ; Fleming and Hedley (Oamaru), £30 16s 9d. The total of unsecured creditors was £927 17s sd. The secured creditors showed a surplus of £158 over the amounts secured. The assets were : Stock-in-trade, £250 ; book debts, £250 ; furniture, £80 ; surplus from securities, £185 ;— estimated deficiency, £189 17s sd. The only Dunedin creditor represented at the meeting was Smith and Smith (Ltd.), for whom Mr Oram appeared. The meeting disclosed that bankrupt assigned his estate to trustees (Messrs E. P. Burbury and James Craig) some weeks ago, and that they sold a farm of 80 acres at Waiareka at £18 per acre, and the goodwill of a leasehold on which were the bankrupt's premises, used by him as a painter's shop, together with the 6fcock therein contained, for £200. The actions of the trustees were approved and the sales ratified. The bankrupt was returned his furniture, and wbs recommended for his discharge.
