Dear Dot.— The usual weekly meeting of the D.LJT. Literary and Debating Club was held on Tuesday lasv, Ist lr.st. Vice-president Go Hon occupied the chair, and there wsie present of the committee I: a, Harry, Awkward Ned, Tomahawk, and fifteen members. Apoiogies weie received for the unavoidable absence of Emerald and Lulu. After the raiding and confirmation of the minutes, the election of the three judges for the debate resu.ted ia the nomination of Lilianfels. Tomahavk, and Stan for the positions. The subject under date was " Should the Youth" of To-day be Allowed to Choose Their Own Professions?" The speakers for the affiiznative side were Nil Desperanciuni (leader), AlCia, Wavey, Joe, Go Hon, and Cycle. In the absence ot Lu2u, who, however, sent in a paper, Harry lead the negative, supported by Mattie, Lulu. Awkward Ned. G-ullyite. and Mr X. Tomahawk having: bean called away unexpectedly in the midst of the debate, the decision arrived at by the remaining two judges was that the r.egp.tive had won the debate. Impromptu speeches followed, the subject being 'Ts There Suclt a Thing as Originality '?'' ths sneakers thereon b^ing Awkward Ned, Tomahawk, Go Hon. and Harry. No little amusement was created by the witticiams of the different speakers —Yours tru'y, HARRY (pro. EMERALD, Secretary).
