BIG AMATEUR ROAD RACE.
- One of the greatest amateur cycling events • that have ever been offered to racing men takes place between Paris and Belgium in ' June. The contest, which promises to be the most interesting item ever promoted for non-professional cyclists, is styled the "Paris- [ Bruxelles," the course selected finishing in the Belgium capital, being over ; distance J of 260J mifes. Altogether £600 will be given away as prize-money for the event. | The first prize will be- a motor car, worth £450, presented by the celebrated motorist, • Baron de Caters. The other prizes will ' vary from £40 to £2. 'I he chief feature of interest connected with the coming race is the immense prize-money given for an amateur event. Hitherto big prizes have | been nearly always associated "with profes- ' ftional sport.
