(LtcL) report as follows:— We held our usual monthly sale of dairy cows-, bullocks, steers, and heifers at ouj: T,aieri Saleyards, Allanton. 00 Tuesday, Ist inst., when we yarded sornf B5 head. "There was a moderate attendance of buyers, and the competition throughout the sale was father slack. Nevertheless a-t auction and privately the" en^ry was olearecj j fo? three-year-old bullocks in rather lpw 1 condition at £3, heifers Q_ff the tussock (spryjg j calvers) at £2 5a to £1 7e 6d, dry cows (aged) | at £2 15s, dairy coWs to £i 15e, calves at 15s 6d. i Sheepskins and Rabbitekihs. — No sales this week, but the deniand is gwd juyl la§t JJ££&'£ OUOlAtioi^JSjnjjjja firgj^ „_..„ ;

Hides. — The fortnightly sale by auction will, be held to-day, but _too late to secure quS-' tationa for this report; at the same time we expect late prices will be fully maintained. Tallow and Fat. — There is no change to note in the position of the market, all offered being freely taken up at late rates, say, for bright, clean rendered country packages, best* 18s to 19s 6d; medium, 15s ed to 17s J inferior, 13s 6d to 14s 6d; best mutton caul fat, 13s 6d to Us 6d; medium, 12s 6d to 13s ; inferior, 10s to 12s ; per cwt ex store. Grain. — Wheat: There is a fair demand for all kinds if in prime milling condition, but no other has. any attention from millers. Owing to the late harvest and the continued unfavourable weather, consignments from the south are only on a very small scale, and mostly unfit for milling, but there being * good local demand for fowls' wheat there ia no difficulty in placing all coming to hand; and at prices too high for shippers to operate. Quotations for prime milling, 3s 2£d to 3a 4d; good to best, 3s Id to 3s 2d; medium, fit only for feed, 2s lid to 3s; broken and inferior, 2s 8d to 2s lOd (ex store, sacks extr«, net). Oats: Owing doubtless to the unseasonable weather prevailing, the supply still remains short of requirements, besides some of the few consignments coming forward are held from sale for the present, in consequence, the few for sale are fetching slightly ' higher prices. Quotations for prime milling, 2s to 2s Id; best bright short feed, Is lljd , to 2s; medium. Is lOd to Is lid; inferior, 13 B*d to Is 9Jd (ex store, sacks extra, net>. | Barley: For prime bright malting there ia a fair demand, while medium and discoloured* has very little attention; quotations for best malting, 3s 9d to 4s 3d; medium and milling, 3d 3d to 3s 4d ; feed, 2s 9d to 3s (sacks extra, net, ex store). > Potatoes.— The market being only moder- ' fttcly supplied, prices this week, more especially for really good, free from disease, slightly improved, best fetching £10 ']0s to £11; medium to good, £9 15s to £10 ss; inferior, £8 to £9 10s (ex store, .sacks in, net). -~ Chaff. — Prime old is in fair demand, while new is not so readily placed. Quotations for best old, £3 12s 6d to £3 15s; best new and medium old. £3 5s to £3 10s; inferior to medium, £2 15s to £3 per ton (ex truck, sacks extra). v Straw. — Market well supplied. Wheaten fetches 35s to 40s; oaten, £2 to £2 5s per ton (ex truck), i ' ■■ = [The individual reports of stock agents^ ! ttcol, rabbitskin, or grain brokers can be in- ; serted in the Daily Times and Otago Witness ! at special rates.]
