Complaints are still being made by farmers (says the Southland Times) that the bad weather prevailing has caused much damage to crops and retarded harvesting. Farmers in different parts of the district who failed to get in their crop during the brief spell of fine weather a week ago will lose considerably by the recent downpour of rain. In parts of the Waikaka Valley district (remarks the Southern Standard of tho 24th ult.) the oat gtcoks are turning distinctly black, and this state of affairs, ye are informed, is not peculiar to that distriot, for wide areas of oats in other parts a'.e beginning to show signs of the rough weather to which they have been subjected. A feature of several valley crops is their eicessive poorness, one or two paddocks roit being deemed worthy of reaping. This, pa:haps, is capable «f a singular explanation.
