REPORTS FROM WORKING DREDGES.

The following additional returns have com© to hand since the compilation of our weak'y? t?ble published in 'ast week's issue • —Enterprise, 15oz; Alpine No. 2, 13oz Bdwt , SandyPoint, 30oz sdwt, for 115 hours ; Garden Gully, "6OZ lldwt, for 9 days : Alexandra Eureka, 48oz 14dwt, for the week; Chicago, 390z sdwt, for 119 hours. West Coast- Blackwatcr River, 50oz 2dwt, 190 hours. Paterson's Freehold returns for last week: we re:— No. 1 dredge, 20oz lOdwt, week; No. 2, 16oz 17dwt, week The return from Bigr.ell's No Town for the week was 330z sdwt for 191 hours' dredging. The dredgmastor wires that he did not wash up until Tuesday owing to the banks being The secretary of the Mystery* Flat Company reports a return of 18oz ldwt fo 126 hours* dredging. T"he Lady Annie dredgeniaster reports a return of 40oz ldwt for 130 hours' dredging. The dredgeniaster of the Masterton wires a return of 220z 7dwt for 134 hours' dredging. Last week's return from the Golden Treasure dredge was 18oz lOdwt for 138 hours' dredging. The secretary of the Three-mile (Greenstone) Gold Dredging Company reports that the dredgemaster washed up 17oz for 75 hours. He reports that the ground is very rougb. Telegraphic reports received on Friday from

the ~dre3gema,ster of Electric No. 1* "and" ifilectric No. 2 . dredges sta-te that the river was rising rapidiy 6 . The return from Ko. -2 machine was Tooz lodwt for seven- days, and from the No. 1 machine 230z 13dwt for 136 hours. The dredgemaster of the Rise- and Shine No. No. J. dredge, who wires a return of 520z for 122 hours' work, also states that there is no alteration in the ground being worked. "The master of the Alexandra Lead dredge reports a leturn of 30oz lodwt for 149 hours' work. The wash is improving, and the dredge is working well. The master of the Wakatipu dredge wired on Saturday having washed up for a return of 12oz sdwt for 116 hours' work; river in flood; ail safe. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Monday morning's wire received on 'Change indicated a fall in the Molyneux River since Saturday of 2ft 6in, the height as telegraphed bsing 7ft 6in above the normal mark at Alexandra. From this if will be seen that the present rise in the Molyneux, though on the face of it a heavy one. is not Mkely to cause delay for any extended period. As a matter of fact there are dredges •which could resume work at Monday's level, but which will by preference remain inactive for a, few days and give the disturbed drift a chance to settle. That remark applies to ths Electrics, which will in all probability ' ststxt work, again m the course of two or three days. The clone or this -week ehould see the xestiniption. of operations by perhaps all of •thces which have been compelled to stop through- what is in reality a- b'g fresh in the liver. ,' Incidentally. the,~Dunstan Lead and 'Alexandra -Lead., which are working into the h&pik.ixnd require plenty of- floating room, and ■iKie". Molyneux Kohinoor, which was slightly Short of wafer, t?ill be benefited by this rise. A jump itoia.Mi loin to 10ft has had little - dr no'^effect on the share market. 'Oil Monday, at both oall-overa, inquiry for scrip was quite general, but there was little disposition shown to indulge in business within the CBll-room. Only two sales ■were put through for {he day, and bpih-6f them in Jiaitley and Rileys, at 27s '6d and 28s, and, in addition, values under* ■went a perceptible improvement, buyers on the fall of the hammer being prepared to give 27s 6d (fellers' price of Saturday), and holders demanding 28s Gd. Last week's return from the Hartley and Riley dredge was^an improved one- ot-Sloz. "--The "dredge only, recently commenced to work into what -is- regarded" asrery. paya, ble b«»ach ground, but some small doubt ia expressed as to whether the dredge will be «ble to work this beach. The giound there is extremely rocky, having; proved a catchment for boulders from the "hill above, and by the descent of which the' river was turned somewhat. , That there is good gold there is admitted on all sides, but as to vjhether the dredge can properly cope with the eround lema-ins to ba seen. Electrics on Alonday received notice only at the first call-over, and ■were a phade easier as conroared with Saturday. Gulden Beds disclosed a slight hardening tendency, bvii GoldeT Buns were weak. Molvneux Kohinoor (oaid) had buyers at 10s 6d, but no sellers. The Kohincor dredge, as already advised, started work on Friday la-st after an overhaul extending over eight weeks. Despite the fact that ihe dredge has had to undergo several extensive overhauls of late she is cons : dered by those acquainted with her as a sound and powerful machine. - Prior 'to stopping she was on good- gold— something like an ounce peit _hour~ and a return, quite in "ieebing "with, that can be looked 'for -this week ~ fbr!th~ > some degree of certainty. In. Rise and Shines buyers and. sellers' qame very near to . doing bueiriess, the former, irnoiing at 21s 3d , and -{he Wtter at'2ls~lo£d.
