Trade is very disappointing, there being only a hand-to-Hicuth demand. Tha averaga piice is: Canteibury mutton, 4Jd per ib light weights, and Sid heavy weights. The average price for Xorlh Island mutton is 3ld. There is a good demand for all classes of lamb, but prices are weak, as ihs stock on hand 19 heavy, the supp'y exceeding the demand. The low /.rices aie cet'ainly increasing the output. The average price for Canteibury brar.-ds is 4^d. other than Canterbury 4:fcf. There is a better demand for beef, and tb** stocks of New Zeaiand or> hand are light. The average pri'-e for New Zealand hu*dqrarfceis ip 3jjd, forequartsrs s?£d. There is a better demand prevailing m the batter n.arket for .:n<?s of the very bast quality. Th-O 1= staac'y foi tte clic'oost Xsw Zea'and at lOOa par cwt. Danish is quoted at 110s, and Sibsnaa at 983. The che&-e r.-.arket is dull for whitp makes at 62s per cv. t. Theic 13 a firm demand for coloured Hftwera at C6a. The 'Ismand for hemp has censiderab'y fallen off. a-id ihs rua'ket is consequently dull. The average puce for G F.A Q-, Wellington, on the spot tc-day is £32 per tun, and foi the April-June shir>-n-.e.i-s .231 is quoted. Wcol 'is firm. The market is quieter, but a good feeling prevails. The cc-oksfoot seed market is firm at 5Ss y.er cwt for- 17. b bright, clean, dressed New Zea and seed.
