April 23. — Tb.e weather here is still very ciucettled — cr.e day fine and two wet. If was Itcvwever. lovely for <he Easter holidays. Harvest. — Most of the farmers have their crr.ps in now, but the work has been *-cry tedious this year, owing to the wet weather.

Football. — On Saturday last the Gore footJballers played a game here against the Wai- " Hahuna team, resutling in a win for WaifaTiuna by 3 points to nil. At night the .footballers gave a most enjoyable concert, and Jiad a bumper house.

Accident. — While riding do.v/i the Gully xoad on her bicycle last week Mrs Kearney met with a most painful accident. In trying to avoid some geese on the road bhe ■went too near the side, and went right over the bank, breaking both wrists, and cutting her faoa rather severely. She was taken to the Lawrence Ho9pita"', where she is getting on as well as can be- expected.

Pre3ontations — On Miss Wall leaving: the school en Friday afternoon., Mr Patrick, in the presence of the committee, a few friends. «nd the children, prersnted her with a lovely •brooch on babalf ,of the school children as a slight token of the esteem in which she is held. Miss Wall is leaving the school 5u which she has been mistress foi seven years, to be married. She will be sadly anissed by tbe little ones, as sne bas always hc-er. a great favourite with them. Mr Yoike. 'on behalf of the Waitabuna people, presented 3iiss Wall with a hot-water kettle, a spirit 3amp, and a pair of silver jam spoons, at same time wishing her long life and ~ihappiness in ,her new home. iliss Wall suitably lesnonded- On Sunday morning Monsigneur O'Leary, on bahalf of the congregation of the Catholic Church, presented Miss Wall, their organist, with a lovely tilver tea service, suitably inscribed. Mr Cowen' responded on behalf of Miss Wall.
