EGG-LAYING COMPETITIONS.
BLENHEIM, March 17. -The total for the forty-sixth week of the New Zealand Egg-laying Competition is 1406, making the grand aggregate 81,743 and the weekly average per pen 14.26. The highest layings for the week were: — Snodgrass (black Orpingtons), Masterton. 26: Mrs Griffiths (silver Wyandotte*). Blenheim, 26; Alexandra Poultry Company (white Plymouth "Rocks). 25 ; Miss Murphy (rope-comb black Orpingtons). Blenheim. 24: Chick Friddles (white Leghorns), Blenheim. ?4 : Jonathan Horfson (white Leghorn*), Blenheim 24. The order of merit in thr Grand aggregates run as follows, the first five pens being white Leghorn* : — H. Leger, Levin. 1297: Marlborough A. and P. Association. 1144 : Brooke. South Australia, 1142; Jonathan Hodson. Blenheim. 1141; Miss Mick Shaw. Blenheim, 1128: Hockey (brown Leghorns.), Nelson. 1D97. The main feature of the week is that the A. and P. Association's pen has passed Brooke's, and sained second place. CHRISTCHURCH. March 19. The statement for the forty-sixth week of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club's e«jg-laying competition at Lincoln College shows that 407 eggs were laid during the week — an average of 10 7 per pen, — making a total to date of 29,000— an average of 763.1 per pen. The best totals for the week were : — C. Peterson, black Orpingrtems. 22 ; A. Gapes, bla«k Langshans. 21 : H. Hawke, silver Wyandottes. 19 ; Mrs Symons, buff Orpingtons. 19. The highest totals to date are : H. Hawke, silver Wyandottes, 1163 ; J. H. Shaw, brown Leghorns, 993 ; J. Mann, white Wyandottss, 973 ; R. E. M. Evans, silver Wyandottes. 931; A. Tyree, black Orpingtons, 901; Mre Studholme, Ancouas, 876.
