DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.

The share market on Monday was. quiet. The opening stock, Alpine No. 2. supplied one of the two sales recorded for the day, the price J»iug-8s 6a, with values at the close showing an improvement as compared with those ruling on Saturday. A parcel of Dunstan Sieads placed on the market at 7s found an inquiry at 43. The master of the Dunstan liead dredge, having shifted down the river, has started to work into the bank from a point in the river part of the claim where leturns of 70oz and thereabouts have been won, and on working into there he will take

in a piece cf beach ground which has not been previously worked. As already mentioned, it may take three weeks to get properly into the bank and have a face opened up, and though a certain amount of gold will be won in the meantime there will not be sufficient to warrant a wash-up until this has been done. Good returns niajf, however, be looked forward to as from, say, the 24th inst. Electrics provided a sale yesterday at 28s 3d, and the closing quotes— buyers 28s, sellers 28s 6d — showed a slight falling off as compared with Saturday's rates. Golden Beds were distinctly firmsr, buyers offering 14s 3d, as against 13s lid at '.he close of last week, and holders quoting at 14s 9d, a price Is higher than that asked last week. An inquiry for Golden Runs at 37s found a response at 395. The return from the Run dredge last week was 85Joz, which, though not as large as those being won some weeks back, is certainly a good one. The directors of this company are at present on a visit to the claim. The declaring of a dividend,, perhaps 2s 6d or perhaps 3s, is not unlikely within the next few days. New Alpine Consols were placed on the market yesterday at 11s, but failed to elicit any buying inquiries; and New Trafalgars were very firm at — buyers 245, sellers 255. The Molyneux yesterday morning was as high as 7ft above the normal mark at Alexandra, showing a jump of IJft since Saturday. A high river from now to the close of the season appears to be certain.
