HAWKE'S BAY.
The Government has decided to acquire compulsorily Mr T. H. Lowry's Okawa property, ,Bear Hastings, containing 14,700 acres, for closer settlement. The. .Salvation Army self-denial effort at Hastings amounted to £133. The secretary of a bazaar recently held in aid of the Technical School was fined £2 10s for conducting an art union on goods not considered works of art.
