, SYDNEY, October 31 V "The force of the explosion at the Standford mine was so great that one man was blown 80 yards, clean out of the tunnel. -

The rescuers displayed great bravery. One man, at imminent risk, removed several packages of dynamite.

Many of the men who are rendered idle by the disaster at the Stanford mine have found employment in other places.

The Lord Mayor has opened a relief fund for the victims of the Stanford mine disaster.

November 2.

The smoke has ceased at the Stanford mine, and the management is hopeful that the damage is not so serious as was at first anticipated.

The manager is strongly of opinion that the mine was deliberately fired, and he has offered a reward of £300 for the conviction of the guilty persons. His action has caused a great sensation in the district.
