TUAPEKA COUNTY JOCKEY CLUB. LAWRENCE, November 4.
The annual meeting of members -of the T>uapeka County Jockey. Club' was held in the Town- Hall on Friday evening, the attendance, frqm various causes, ,not being so large as usual. 'Mr James Bobertson (viee-presidoni) was in the chair, -the president (Mr -Hugh Craig) having resigned his offi.ee during the year. ' The balance sheet sKowed a credit balance on the last meeting of about ;£3O, and the members present expressed satisfaction at the result. The annual report and balance sheet having been adopted, the meeting proceeded lo the election of officers for the ensuing year, which resulted as follows: — President, Mr James Robertson; vice-presidents— Messrs B. Hart and M. Potts; treasurer, Mr -Sinclair; judge, Mr James Hopkins; clerk of course, Mr Donald Munro; clerk of totalisator, Mr Henry Hart; timekeeper, Mr George Martin; provident trustees — Messrs J. Robertson and Sinclair; stewards — same as last year with the addition of the names of Messrs H. Craig and Sinclair; handicapper, Mr Gouriey; starter, 'Mr Edward Browne. Grounds and Printing Committees were also appointed. It was resolved to call for applications for workin? the totalisator. It was mentioned thait the club had\ secured , freehold land ,at ]iappy Valley, about one mile and a-half from Lawrence, for the formation of 'a new racing track,, and it was -expected that the next meeting would , be held' on -the new ground. Several "new members were elected, and the meeting^ terminated with the usual vote of thanks to the ' chair.
