'A painfully sudden death occurred at South. Melbourne on October 14-, John T. Smith, aged 38, dropping dead whilst playing cricket. The deceased was put on to bowl, and when about to deliver the second ball o.f his second over he staggered and fell. His companions went to his assistance, but lie expired almost immediately, and did not speak from th.c time he fell.
