THE BUTTER MARKET.

Messrs A. Moritzson and Co. report: —

No doubt it will be of interest to ,your numerous readers to learrr that the butter market is booming, and that we have made arrangements thia season for all milled, dairy, and separator butter is as follows : First grade, 9Jd; second grade, B|d; third grade, 7d f.o.b. ocean-going steamer, through freezer, to be shipped from either Port Chalmers or Lyttelton. Seeing that the factories have been selling their butter from lOd to lOJd it is very satisfactory indeed to the prodiicers to get such magnificent prices for their milled and dairy butter, and we think it will tend somewhat towards Sairy farmers making butter themselves instead of delivering their milk to the nearest creamery. Last year 7£d was paid for first grade. We are glad to state that prices of produce of all descriptions in the colony are very buoyant, and as prices for wool and meats are ruling very high, and are expected to be maintained, this will mean that our exports for the coming financial year will very likely total to over £10,000,000.

Potatqes no doubt will also remain very high. When the main crop comas forward in March we believe prices will rule £5 ana over, as already this sum has been refused for a 100-ton lot by an Oamaru grower for May-June delivery.

With all these facts before us there should! be plenty of money avai'able and things fairly prosperous in this colony.
