DUNEDIN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Messrs A. Moritzson and Co., auctioneers, woel, stock, station, grain, produce, and commissian agents, report (wholesale) for the week as under. All quotations are subject to market fluctuations. We would ask farmers when sending samples always to put a price on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers: — Wheat. — Wheat remains firm at last week's quotations. Pr'nie velvet and Tuscan, 3s 3d to 3s 4d; choice sample, 3s sd; red sorts, 3s 2d; good whole fowl wheat, 3s. Oats are still improving, 'and any arrivals are easily cleared at — Milling, 2s 2d; B grade, 2s to 2s ldl; inferior, Is lOd to Is lid.
Ryecorn, 2s 6d to 2s 9d.
Barley. — Orders from the north still coining forward, although the demand for malting barley bas fallen off considerably locally. Milling, 2a 9d. Feed barley is, however, wanted sit 2s 6d
Chaff.— Market firm. Bright heavy, £3 15s to £i ; medium, £3 to £3 ss ; inferior, £2 10s; wheaten straw, £1 13s 6d; oaten straw, £1 15s. Prussian blue peas. 3s 9d per bushel.
Maize, 4s.
Ryegrass. — Fair demand. We have sold at: Farmers' dressed, light seed, Is 9d to 2s 3d; 3s to 3a 9d; heavy-weights, 2s 9d to 3s 3d; machine dressed, 4s to 5s 6d ; light seed, Is 9d to 2s 3d ; heavy seed, 2s 3d to 3s.
Carrots, 30s to 35s (wanted)
Cocksfoot.— Cocksfoot market remains strong Farmers' lots, 3Jd to 4£d; machined, 5d to sid.
Linseed.— Scarce ; nominal value, £13 to £14, wanted.
Chewings's Fescu«. — Demand for this soed is brisk, and price has gone up to 2Jd to 3d for machined seed; farmers' lots, l|d to 2d. Potatoes. — Stocks low, with few arrivals. Prime Derwents, £12 10s to £13; white sorts, £11 to £11 6s.
Rabbitskins.— We hold weekly sales. Prime winters (selected) up to 21<3; suckers and runners, 4Jd to 6£d; siimmers, 7d to
19£ d;1 9£d ; outgoing, 12Jd to 13Jd ; early autumns, 12id to 13|d; late autumns, 12Jd to 13Jd ; autumn blacks, llhd to 12d ; early autumns, lid to 12d ; winters, 15d to 17d ; winter blacks, 31d to 35d; incoming winters. 14d to 15d; early winters, laid to 16Jd ; silver greys, up to 37c). Sheepskins.— We hold weekly sales. Crossbreds, extra heavy, up to 12s 6d; crossbreds, sound pelts, 9s to 10s; medium, 7s 6d to 8s (id; inferior, 6s to 7s ; lambs, extra good, tip to 7s 6d. Hides.— We quote: Prime ox. stout, 6|d to 7?d- extra heavy do, 4*d to od; medium, 4£d to 5Jd; light, 4£d to 4£d; heayj. cow up to 4|d; light, 4£d to 4id per lb; calfskin's (sound), up to 2s Gd to 3s; yearlings, 3s 3d to 6s; cow tips, Is 9|d to Is lOd per Horsehair (keen demand), 16* dto 17?>d ; cowhair, B?,d to lOd. Tallow.— We have an inquiry for extra good mutton in casks at 23s to 255. Country sales conducted on most leasonabls terms. We can supply rabbit and sheep netting, oil cake; farmers' Fairbanks 4001b scales, £5 10s; Crown sheep dip— casks 3s per gallon. drums 3s 6d; Berger's red and black sheepbranding oil, 4s per gallon; Gibson's cattle brand. 9s for small, and 15s for large tins; Newton's patent wool presses, £13 each ; clover, rape, and turnip seeds, all freshly landed. Prices on application. Stack covers, 18 x 16, 403 each. Grass Seed Cleaning.— Our machinery is up to date. We have just added a clover polisher, and as we have a machine of the latest typ« for each kind of seed we give from 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, better cleaning results than a machine which cleans all seeds. W« also store seed free of charge until cleaned, and keep same insured. Storing Grain.— We are prepared to store, receive, and deliver, insure, with three months free storage, at 3d per sack. Our stores aro vermin proof and connected with siding. FRUIT AUT> PRODUCE REPORT " Defiance " dried milk. 9s 9d per dozen (four dozen in ca9e). Butter.— Prime salt, 9d to lOd ; separator, m lib pats, lOd to lOJd; factory, ll|d to Is; bulk, Hid; salt butter for export, first grade, 9Jdi; second grade Bhd; third grade, 7d, all f.o.b. through freezer. Onions.— None offering; 'Frisco, £22 6s to £24. Honey.— Demand is not very strong. Prices ar«P ruling from 3Jd to 4d' for good quality. Section honey, 4s 6d to 7s per dozen. Beeswax. Is 4d, wanted. Eggs.— Fresh Bd. Walnuts. 6s to 7d, wanted. Bacon. — Rolls, 6|d to 7d. Hams.— 7M to Bd. p'.gs --For *izes up to 160!b, first-class dairyfed quality, 3|d; good demand. Butter boxes, with parchment linings, w» can supply at 18s per dozen. Vickery's egg preservative, 20s per case of 9 gallons. Poultry.— Apply for particulars for export. Fruit.— We receive consignments by every steamer from Australia, the Islands, and our own colony, and hold sales daily on arrival of consignments. Sacks.— We can quote 44in corn sacks, 6» 6d; 46m, 6s 9d. 48in, 7s; second-hand grain sacks, 5s 6d ; good flour sacks, 5s per dozen. Ovo gold medal egg preservative, particulars on\ application.
