Phosphorised Meat.

TO THE E.DITOB. Sir, — I see by the issue of the Witness of the 11th ms't. that a man in Australia believes that the phos.phorised mutton is caused by shcap eating rabbit poison. I don't believn this myself, and I have had a very Ions: experience with phasphorised grain. Dogs and pigs fed on the poisoned carcases do- well od them, and get fatter than when fed on rabbits caught in any other way, providing they do not get any of the entrails. I havo seen rabbits and an odd sheep in the dark many a lime, and have never seen any signs of phosphorus aSout them. I should not hesitate to cook and eat a rabbit poisoned with phosphorus, as I believe all the poison has passed through the animal before death. Many a time in a lonely camp have I taken a rabbit's stomach, and opened it, and have npver seen any trace of the poison in them. I have killed rabbits that have eaten tho poison, and have found the phosphorus in the stomach of these, but never m any I have found dead. There are hundreds of rabbiters who bring home to camp the carcases to feed their dogs with. These rabbits are usually hung up cutside, and if there- was anything lijke phosphorus about them someone would have been sure to have seen it and commented on it before this. It is now about 26 years since I first used poisoned oats to destroy pcoi bunny. I should like to know if any labbitcr ha.s seen anything ishining in the carcases of rabbits poisoned with phosiphorus. — I am, etc., RABBITER.
