Fat Cattle. — 189 head yarded for to-day's market. About half of this number was made up cf good to prime quality bullocks, the balance medium weights and quality. The same remarks apply to several pens of heifers and cows. Best bullocks fetched from £9 10s to £11; medium, £7 10s to £8 10s; lighter weights, £6 to £7; cows aud heifers, £5 to £7. Store Catt.,e. — Fifty-one head were yarded, mixed sexes and ages. Prices were fairly gooa, and every pen cleared at satisfactory values. The Otago Farmers' Co-operativo Association o.? Dairy Cows. — Twenty-four head were yarded. The sale^was one of the best that has been at Biunside for some time. Good cows, oalved or close to calving, were in demand, and sold up to £7. The Otago Farmers' Cooperative Association (Limited) yarded 13 and sold: For Mr James Caley (Caversham), Mr Mitchell -Mosgiel), Mr A. Cowen (Waitati), Mr W. Town.ey (Highcliff), Mr J. Moloney (Burkes), Mr W. Brown (Green Island), cows at from £2 7s 6d to £6 ss. Donald Eeid and Co. (Limited) sold: For Mr T. Hewitt (Allanton), 1 cow at JE3 2s 6d; Mt C. French (Bavensbourne), 1 cow at £3 2s 6d; Messrs J. and B. Milner (North Taieri), 2 cows at £2 10s to £2. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold : For Messrs William Currie (North Taieri), James M'Nab (Mornington), and others, 7 head at quotations.
Calves.— The Otago Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association (Limited) yarded 7 and sold : For Messrs J. Moloney, J. Wright, S. Townley, James Bain, F. Kropp, and Samuel ' M'Clure, at from 4s to 30s. Donald Eeid and Co. (Limited) sold : For Messrs J. Gamble, H. Martin, and S. Wright, 5 at market rates.
Fat Sheep.— For to-day's market 1810 sheep were penned, principally prime wethers — a few pens extra heavy. Ewes were not plentiful. The market throughout showed a slight improvement on last week's ouotatons, and prices were firm from start to finish. Best wethers, 27s to 295 ; lighter weights, 24s to 26s 3d; medium, 22s to 235. Fat Lambs. — 26 penned, all good plump qi;ality, and sold at from 14s to 223. The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association (Limited) peoined 10 and sold for Mr E. Pigs. — 100 penned, porkers, baconers, and stores. Prices showed an improvement on late rales. Baconers 40s to 465; porkers, 28s to 38s; weaners, 10s to 121s. Country Saies. — Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report having held _ their usual monthly stock sale at Palmerstoh on Monday, the 2nd inst., when they yarded a good entry. There was a full attendance of buyers, both dealers and farmers from tbe surrounding district being well represented. The demand for sheep was good, and every lot offered changed hands at excellent prices. Cattle, on the other hand, were dull, and the sale for them was lifeless and prices were easier. They sold stock on account of Messrs D. M'lntosh, Duncan M'iiaren, W. Pearson (all of Palmerston, Mat Lee (Green Valley), D. Murray, Jas. Chapman, Fred. Glover, Aif. Cockeriil (all oS Dunback), D. Lefevre (Haonpden), Jos. Dungey (Hiiigrove), E. Hagan (.Flag Swamp), J. Da,lziell (Glenpark). They quote: Crossbred hoggets (smaL), 17s 8d; wethers, 21s lOd; three-year-old steers, at from £i 15s to £6; two-year-old steers, at from £3 5s to £4 os; 18-nionths-old steeis and heifers, at from £1 153 to £2 14s ; yearlings, at from £1 to £1 10s ; calves, at from 12s to 15s; cows (springers;, £i 10s to £6; dry cows, £1 to £3. Balc.utha Stock Sale: The Otago Farmers' Association yarded 20 pigs, 62 cattle, 2 horses, and a cjuantity of furniture, and sold at following rates: — Pigs xip to 21s 3d, fat bullocks up to £&, do heiiers to £7 7s, steers to £5 16s, cowa to £4 16s, horses to £8 ss.
Eabbitskins.—^t last Monday's sale medium sized catalogues were offered. There was a full attendance of buyers, and keen competition for all lots. Quotations: Best winter does, 20d to 20Jd; good winters, 17d to 17£ d; ordinary winters, 16d to l&Jcl; summers, 7d to 9d; broken or damaged. 7d to lid; best blacks and silver greys, 30d to 35d; spring, 11 kl to 13d; autumns, 13d to 15d. -
Sheepskins. — At last Tuesday's sale faii> sized cata ogues were offered to a full attendance of buyers. Biddirjg was veiy brisk and competition keen, prices being well up to late rates.
Hides. — There has been no sale of hides since last report.
Grain. — Wheat: The market is steady, an6s there is a fair demand for prime milling quality and fowl wheat. Medium is slow of sale. Quotations: Best Tuscan, 3s 3d to 3g 4d ; medium, 3s Id to 3s 2d ; best velvet, 3s 2d to 3s 3d; medium, 3s Id to 3s 2d; best fowl wheat, to 3s; medium, 2s lOd to 2s lid; inferior, 2s 6d to 2s 9cl (sacks extra). Oats: Stocks in town are low, and as consignments continue light prices are hardening. Quotations: Prime milling qualities, up to 2s; best feed, Is lO^d to Is lid; medium, Is Sd to Is 9d (sacks extra).
Potatoes. — The demand is limited, but stocks are not heavy, and the market is fairly steady. Quotations: Prime Derwents, £10 to £10 ss; medium quality, £0 to £9 10s; best whites, -tip to £9; others. £8 to £S 10s (sacks in).
Chaff is in better supply this week, but best quality is saleable at quotations: Prime, £3 10s to d£3 12s 6d (extra, £3 15s); inferior and medium, £2 15s to £3 7s 6d (sacks extra).
Turnips. — There is some demand for those suitable to table use; others are nearly out 08 the market, and may -be quoted at 16s to 17s, loose, ex truck.
Straw. — Good wheafcen has a fair sale at 32s 6d to 355; best oaten, to £2.
