Called Back.
A somewhat amusing incident occurred! on a recent Sunday in the Scottish provincial town where the writer lives. An intimation was made in one of the churches that the son of a former minister of tho congregation would conduct the service on the following Sunday. In anticipation of this there was a large audience, among whom wa3 an old lady who, on account of her deafness, generally sat as close to the pulpit as possible. •Shortly after she had taken her seat oiii that Sunday the minister— a, beardless youth fresh from the Divinity Hall— made bis appearance. All went well until he was mounting the pulpit steps. Immediately she saw this, the old lady started from her seat, and, following the minister, accosted him with the words— audible all over the < hurch : "Come doon, come cloon." my inannie; you canna gang up there; that's the placa f v- the minister !"'
