AN INTERESTING EXPERIMENT. PALMERSTON NORTH, October 2.
The committee of tho Manawalu A. a.nd P. Association has accepted an offer of £200 from Messrs Collett and Co., Cardiff, England, for prizes for butter. Each exhibitor has to send so many boxes of butter to the next whiter show at Palmerston North and so many boxes of equal quantity Home, there to be judged by experts. On the latter tests the awards will be made. It is stipulated that the consignments must be sent to Bristol by the Houlder-Fedaral line. Exhibitor* are guaranted lOd per lb. and as much more as the butter realises. Two of the many benefits to be derived from the competition are the opening up of trade with West of England ports and a comparison between local and Home judging.
In the case of a man who had taken a fatal dose of ammonia, a North of Staffordshire jury returned a verdict of '" Misadventure," because he was insured. When rebuked by the coroner, they decided that there was not sufficient evidence to show whether the death was accidental or not.
