I understand that the Government has decided to purchase 11 acres, the balance of the Belleknowes Estate, near Dunedin, for workmen* home-. The price is said to bo £250 an aero. Mr Millar has for some tirae past been urging the Go\crnmenfc to acquire tin* property.

TI.-C Go\crnment is urged, with the consent of Native owners, to acquire tliH land, giving Maoris an equivalent in land on the estate recently acquired from Mr White.
The Wakatipu Mail states that Mr E. E Stark, eleclricvil engineer, has been engaged during the week invesi igating the matter of the water power contained in the Ono-milo and Brewery Crocks, with a view to converting h, into electrical energy.
