THE CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.
CHRISTCHURCH, September 15. Nothing whatever is doing in the local wheat market, there being no offerings and practically no inquiry. Oats are wanted, but none are coming to hand from growers, though a number of lots in store have changed hands among merchants at firmer rates. Potatoes show a still further downward tendency, and £10 is now the outside price aff» country stations, while one large buyer is offering only £9. A private cable message has been received quoting potatoes at £7 10s f.o.b. Davenport, Tasmania, and at this price they can be landed cheaper in Auckland than from here. There is also a large consignment to arrive from San Francisco next week by mail steamer.
