THE NAUGHTY VOUCHER.
There was once a naughty voucher, And it secreted its-elf (So the letter-sorters stated) On the much-respected shelf Where the good ones were collected; But, not caring for the job, They got Sentimental Tommy To expose it to the mob. ICow Tommy never doubted what The letter-sorters swore About their find; what plagued him wa<9 They found not many more. So making for the naughty thing, 3e grabbed it with a clutch ; But, alas! trie one he collared had One little " n '' too much. Then Tommy got commissions of Inquiry on the way. Ho searched the Audit Office In his anger night aaid day. He'd voucher served him up for breakFast, dinner, lunch, and tea ; In Parliament and out of it He searched assiduously. But the naughty voucher vanished,—. And what troubled him the more, He fancied it was grinning at him Somewhere, so he swcr& He would empty the exchequer — The expense he didn't mind ; — ..Yet he never found that voucher, For there wasn't one to find.
