GERMANY AND CHINA.
THE YANG-TSE VALLEY.
PEKING, August 11
The German cruiser Hansa steamed several hundred miles up the Yang-tse. This is believed to be a set-off to the recent visit of the British battleship Glory, and to emphasise Germany's refusal to recognise Great Britain's sphere of influence in the Yang-tse Valley.
