Dear Dot, — The usual weekly meeting of the D.L.F. Literary and Debating Club was held in t.he D.L.F. room of the Witness ofSce on Tuesday evening, August 8, when there were present the President (Harry), in the chair; Go Hon, T. D A., Lenore, C. C. M., Troilus, Brenda., and 29 members. Being socia.l evening, we varied the programme, and the result was a most enjoyable evening. Papers were contributed by Cornish, "His Last Eequest" ; Nil Desperandum, " Man " ; Lester, " Experiences in the Dry Goods Department" ; and letters by Lester and out old comrade Blac*c Watch. Impromptu speeches -were given on "Should Surprise Parties be Abolished?" The negative was supported by Go Hon, Scobie, and 1 C. C M., and the affirmative by Harry. Nil Desperandum, and T. D. A. The members then devoted the rest of the evening to parloar games, the family ccach, and speechifying.—Youts truly, THE DUKE'S AUUSEE, Secretary.
