GRAND RAPIDS

In r.eply to a letter from F. MusgTave, the Caulfield trainer, to Mr G. G. Stead, that gentleman has forwarded a certificate of identification of Grand Rapids. In -his Letter Mr Stead expresses the opinion "that the Gipsy Grand — "Whirlpool gelding has been harshly treated by the Victorian handicappers, but he is to be given a run in the Balaclava Stakes, of a rniiJe, at, Oaulfield co Saturday, in which he has beeii apportioned top weight — 9.9, — Purser coming next with 8.13. There is every probability t.hat Mr J. Wren, the owner oi Grand Rapids, will send 1 hini to Randwick for his spring engagements. Grand Rapids certainly acquitted himself better on the righthand stye of galloping than he has done since he crossed the border.
