Fat Cattle.— 180 head were yarded. Of this number heavy-weight prime oxen were considerably in the minority, and in consequence had special attention, resulting in an improvement in values over last week's rates of about 10s per head Medium steers sold at fully late quotations. Competition was fairly keen, and the market all round was in. favour of vendors. Best bullocks brought from £9 15s to £10 10s; medium-quality steers, to £8 7s 6d; prime heifers were limited, and were well competed foi at from £5 to £6 ss ; cows, a fair number yarded, and realised from £4 5s to £5 ss. F-illy two-thirds of this number consisted of good to prime wethers, the balance light weight wethers and inferior ewes. For the former the market opened at values quite on a par with last week's quotations, but, unfortunately for vendors, before half the entry was disposed of prices dropped Is per head, and towards the close a further decline wa3 very noticeable, which caused a good few pens to be withdrawn, notwithstanding the , fact that export buyers were operating mildly. Wethers most suitable for trade purposes ' fetched from 22s to 255, two or three pens ' extra heavy sheep from 25s 6d to 27s 9d; j handy weights for export, 193 to 20s 6d; j medium quality wethers, to 20s; one pen heavy ewes realised 23s 6d. Hewitt (Momona), 2 at 265; Mr Thomas Lee (Allanton), 2s at 52s 6d; Mr John Dow (Newton), 5 at 38s Gd to 325; Mr J. Middieditch (Sawyers' Bay), 4 at 34s 6d to 31s; Mr W. Country Sales.— The New Zealand Loan and. Mercantile Agency Company report holding their usual fortnightly sale on Thursday last at Clinton, when they offered a fair yarding of sheep to the usual representative gathering of farmers and others. Among the yarding #ra3 a considerable number of good wethers, ewes, and hoggets, competition being very animated for these. Breeding ewes (four, six, and eight tooth) sold to 24s 6d, which they got for a very fine liii<? of Mr George Harvey's, while tho aajne gentleman's wethers brought 235. Hoggets were not quite as buoyant as they have been, but a few good lines changed hands at 16s 6d. Tho same firm held their fortnightly sale at Balc-lutha next day, when prices ruled much, aa at Clinton. The yarding was larger, although of nol such good quality, hoggets making from. 15s 6d for medium., to 17s 6c! for specially good, and breeding ewes to 23s 6d for six and eight tooth ; while wethers sold at from 18s to 19s 6d for forward stores, wmle fats 1 mad* up to 22s 6d. Balclutha Stock Sale. — The Otago Farmers' Co-o^evative Association of New Zealand (Limited) report: — We held our fortnightly sale of sheep, cattle, and piga at the Corporation Yards, Balclutha, on Friday la&t, J\me ">A. Our entry was not large, 364 sheep being penned and about 20 head of cattle and a number cf pigs of ali ages and sizes. The market for all classes of stock waa fai^y good, and we had a clearance at satisfactory prices.

Grain. — Wheat: The market is steady, without quotable change. Millers are buying sparingly at quotations, but holders of prime qualities are not pressing sales. There is little demand for medium sorts, but fowl feed is warned locally (shipper? are gettivg their requirements at northern ports). -Quotations: Prime nulling. 3s to 3s Id; medium, 2s lOd to 2s lid; best fowl feed, 2s 9d; inferior, 2s 6d (sacks extra). Oats: Consignments have been light for some time, and stocks of all kinds are ,low. Prices locally are hardening, and shippers have some difficulty in supplying their orders fron here. Quotations: Seed lots (according to quality and kind) Is lOd to 2s 3d; prime milling grades, Is Bid to Is 9d; best feed, Is 8d; inferior to medium, Is 6d to Is 7Jd (sacks extra).

Chaff — Stocks are getting light, especially of good quality, and for this sort there is a good demand. Quotations : Prime, well-ciit oaten sheaf, £3 (extra, £1 2s 6d); medium, £2 10s to j£2 15s (sacks extra).

Potatoes. — The market has been fairly well supplied during the week, but prices keep firm especially for good, sound Derwents. Quotations: Best Derwents, £7 to £7 ss; others, £6 to £6 10s; white sorts, £7 to £7 5s (sacks in).

Straw is in full supply, and prices are easier. Quotations: Wheaten, 30s to 32s 6d; oaten, 32s 6d to 355.

Turnips. — The supply is about equal to the demand, and prices keep low. Quotations: Best swedes, 12s per ton (loose, ex track).
