SIR J. G. WARD'S TOUR.
TIMARU, June 24.
Sir J. G. Ward spent three days in South Canterbury, chiefly in the Waitaki electorate, receiving many deputations asking for increased railway and postal facilities claimed to be required owing to the extension of settlement in the district. To-day the members of the Harbour Board and a number of business men met him to sak for increased facilities for shipping work. No definite promises were given, but favourable consideration was promised in some oases. The Minister, and also the Hon. Mr Duncan, goes to Wellington to-night.
There is now a better inquiry for young ew.es and hoggets, prices showing aoi upward tendency. This week we heard (says tbe Bruce Herald) of two sales of fat wethers, one at 24s and one at 24s 6d, delivered on the owners' farms near Milton.
