BALLOT FOR LAND. DANNEVIRKE, July 1.
A ballot for 4771 acres of the Mangatoro I Estate, 10 miles from Danne^irke, recently acquired from the Assets Board by the Government, took place to-day in the presence of 300 people. Altogether 12 sections were balloted for. for which there were 825 applicants. The following are the results of the ballot : — Section 3, 611 acres, Wm. H. Ross, Danncvirke ; 57 applicants. Section 4, 263 acres, Archibald W."" Shand, Whetukuia; 27 applicants. Section 5, 440 acres, John P. Channon, Dannevirke ; 111 applicants. Section 17, 214 acres, Rose A. (rolfincli, INlaharahara ; 273 applicants. Section 18, 441 acre% Margaret .laugh, Umutaoroa ; 51 applicants. Section 19, 643 acres, Wm. Murray, Dannevirke ;80 applicants. Section 8. 387 acres, George Martin, Herbertville ; 133 applicants. Section 9, 463 acres, John Bustard. Blenheim ; 14 applicants. Section 10, 408 acres, Robert Moore, Farndon ; 13 applicants.
