PORT CHALMERS CLUB.
The following report was submitted at the annual meeting: —
The year .started with "50 members, and during t"he -yoaT seven new members joined and five anemibera left "the olub through various reasons, leaving the present membership at 52. The -following .notice <of anotioxi will bo considered. — " T J3iat honorary members may be admitted to the club after being duly balloted for, etc " Th& green at the -commencement of the -season was very bare 'at 'the -end nearest th.3 yavalion, through hexing *o put a .heavy costing of soil on to biting it up to the level. Ilhe committee also decided to put several drains '-flirough the green on the careteiker's BUggesticm, -and trusts that the green will be in better order next reason than it has ever been. ZThe -cost of this work, material, etc., amounts to £22 7s Bd, but the balance from this year^and a- few subscriptions for next year paid in advance will be sufficient to meet all liabilities without calling on -the nawmbers in -any way. The caretnlrer (Mr .Parquharson) had a trying time at the commencement of the season, but Jias ike.pt iihe green in first-class oifler, and -carried -out -all the improvements to the committee's entire satisfaction. During th 3 year 'the club ,played six interclub matches, vdnning -two -an^ losing four. It a&so played five iriendly /matches— viz., wiith Milton, Palnierston '(2), J>uuii3in, and 'Zhitram, — wanamig three and losiag two. Prize matches were played during the .season with the following resiilts: — Champion Singles '(scratch) J. Gray; Rink Match, D. M'Gregor, Dr Bauchop, Dr Hadgfis, and Mir Aiken ; Pairs Match (handicap), J. -Cameron anS J. Ripley ; 'Single-handed Match (handicap), J. 'Matthews; Pairs Match (aeniiors), J. Cameron wad N. Murray; Paars Matoh (jn^iors). W- Morgan «md 3". Rdplejf. The thanks nf ihe club are due to the following gentlemen 'for contributions to the prize list this season: — Messrs J. R. -Campbell (president), J. Cleghorn '(vice-pi:es.iaent). 'John Hill, J. Stevenson, J. --Cameron, jun.. John Stevenson, and J. Cook.
