TCJAPEKA LlOfcNMNtt €OM- \ MITTEK I (From Our Own Correspondent.) ROXBURGH, June 15. The Tuapeka Licensing Committee held its quarterly meeting here to-day, when th&re were present Messrs Jeffery, Elder, M'lntosh, Craig-, and Rivers. In the absence of the stipendiary magistrate, Mr Jeffery presided. AH applications were granted without comment. The application of D. G. Gunn, of Chatto Creek, for an accommodation license was also granted. The committee decided towaive the neoessary requirements of the aot with regard to the time of tbe application and advertising. The clerk of the Mount Ida L censing Committee forwarded the letters m connection with the mistake made in granting the license by that body. Sergeant Crawford (Clyde) and Sergeant Bowman (Lawrence) appeared for the police, who raised no objection to any license. Speaking at Karori last week Mr W. H. Field mentioned that his late brother, Mr H. A. Field, when quite a boy, took part in the last Maori war. As soon as the war was over he took charge, as a Government surveyor, of a party composed entirely of Maoris, and went up the Wanganui River. Practically no white man had been there before, and the work was of a very hazardous nature. In fact, many predicted that the surveyors would not return alive, but after spending two years on this dangerous mission Mr Field returned to civilisation. * WEAK, Nervous Men, Why Suffer?— When | lou can be quickly and permanently f CUBSD by taking HERR RASSMUSSEN'S ALFALINE VITALITY PILLS.
