P-Q Xt 4 is a preferable alternative. ' (b)- This, in conjunction with subsequent castles, QE, is not to be recommended. The chances of successful atfack oil the adverse king are but slight. (c) B-Q B 4. and I§, P x P, P x P, not Q x Xt, because of 16. R-Kt 1, is more enterprising. (d) To defend the pawn with king or bishop would be to run into worse evils. White would reply with Kt-B 5, forcing an open Q-Kt file with- an overwhelming attack. (b) K-R 2 weuld have saved a move. (f) Of course, the pawn cannot be taken, because of eventual Kt-B 5 eh. (g) Better than Xt x B eh. (h) A magnificent combination, which fully deserves the brilliancy prize awarded. (i) Black has nothing better. (j) The game was prolonged to the sixtyfifth move, but the position is easily won for White.
