POULTRY REPORT,
Messrs "Waters, Ritchie and Co. report for the week ending June 10 as follows: — The local m-arket 1 shows a slight improvement on previous rates, and we sold good 1 table poultry, in good condition, as follows: — Hens 3s, loosters 3s 6(3, ducks 4s 6d per pair, turkey hens; 4*d to sd, gob-blers Sd per Ib, geese 4s to 4s 6d per pair. The export market remains unchanged. First grade h&ns 3s, roosters 3s 6d, ducks 5s Gd per pair. There has been a very fair delivery during 1 the past week at the depot, and the proportion of rejects has been small. We take this opportunity of directing, growers' attention to the conditions under which poultry is carried railage free. All birds must be consigned and addressed to the Department of Agriculture, and not to the local agent, and if this is done all birds passed by the grader are carried free of railage. "We find that a number of our clients consign to its and address the- crates to the Department of Agriculture. This ia not sufficient, arsd in such cases the rail-way claim the right to charge railage. We ask our clients to assist in this matter by consigning strictly in accordance with, the railway regulations.
