NEW ZEAL AND KENNEL CLUB.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the New Zealand Kennel Club was held in the Chamber of Commerce, Wellington, on Thursday, lEt inst., at 8 p.m. Present — Messrs S. Hall and J. C. Lane (Manawatu A. and P. Society), A. Robertson (Wairarapa P., P., and V. Society), A. Minogua and R. W. Alexander (Bulldog Club of New Zealand), J. Philpot (Egmont A. and P. Society), T. J. Leighton and G. F. D. Watson (Manawatu Kennel Club), B. E. Ban3iister and L. ~W. 15. Andrews (Hawke's Bay A. and P. Society), J. F. Fitzgerald (Auckland K. C), J. Davis (Masterton A. and) P. Society), TV. Janson and M. G. Grenside (Wanganui A. and P. Society), Barton (Dunediu Fanciers' Club), E. Bernasconi and E. Hutchen (Wellington K. C), S. E. Harrop and W. H. Lambert (Hawke's Bay K. and P. Club), J. T. E. Harrap (Southland P.. C, 8., and D. "Society), Major Dunk, C. R. Beattie, A. Clifford-Bramah, and F. Clark (vice-presi-dents).
Dr Faulke (the president) presided.
The Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting, and, after amendment, they were confirmed.
It was moved and seconded that in view of the large attendance of delegates speakers be restricted to a limit of five minute?.— This was agreed to. Correspondence. — A letter was receive.! from Mr D. Wright (Egmont A. and P. Society) apologising for his absence. — The Hawke's Bay K. and P. Olub wrote applying for challenge classes. Mr Lane moved, and Mr Bannister seconded — "That the challenge classes applied for by the Hawke'a Bay li. and P. Club be granted." A good deal of discussion on the motion ensued, and it was ultimately resolved, on the motion of Mr Harrap, seconded by MiAndrews — "That no delegate be allowed to speak more than once to any motion." This was agreed to. After some further discussion Mr Lane withdrew his motion, and moved that consideration "of the application by the Ha.wke's Bay Club for challenge classes, be deferred till later in the evening. Agreed to. — The following correspondence was received: — Dunedin Fanciers' Club, Wairarapa. P. and A. Society, Wairai-apa P., P., and D. Society, Masterton A. and P. Association, Southland Society, Manawa-tu 3L Club, Manawatu A. and P. Association, Bulldog Club of New Zealand, Wellington li. C, and A. J. Shailer. The last-named applied for a championship certificate for his r c collie dog Scotch Heio, winner of challenge classes at Palmerston, 1903 and 1904, and Wanganui, 1904. It was resolved ■that the certificate be issiicd if the application were found to be in order. — The Wanganui delegate (Mr Grenside; handed in a telegram from his society applying for challenge classes. Consideration of this was deferred. The letter from the Southland Society was referred to the secretary and treasurer to deal with.
Mr Lane then moved— "That the resolutions - f +*« gew Zealand. Keime.l Club passed on
May 4 (a) deciding that only one challengs class for the same breed of dog can be competed for in the one year in the North Island ; (b; setting up a sub-comniitlee to allot challenge classes, bo rescinded," of which notice had been given. The motion was seconded by Mr Bannister. After a lengthy and animated discussion Mr Janson moved as an. amendment— "That the foregoing notice of motion given by the Manawatu K. C. could not be dealt with, as that club had not given' sufficient notice, and it had not been signed by their delegates, as required by the rules/ Mr Bernssconi seconded the amendment. Mr Lane moved that the voting of the delegates bo recorded. Seconded by Mr Bannister, and after some further discussion it was agreed to. The President then put the amendment* moved by Mr Janson. The voting was as follows : — Ayes : Messrs Clifiord-Braniah (vicepresident), Hutchen, Beraasconi ("Wellingtou K. C), Alexander, Minogue (Bulldog Club of New Zealand), Clark (vice-president), Barton (Dvnedin Fanciers' Club), Janson (Wanganut A. and P. Society), Andrews (Hawke's Bay AXA X and P. Society), Davis (Masterton A. and P.' Association), Fitzgerald (Auckland K. C), Philpot (Egmont A. and P. Society), Kobertson (Wairarapa P., P., and D. Association), Hall (Manswatu A. and P. Society). Noes:Messrs Lambert, Harrop (Hawke's Bay K. ancf P. Club), Grenside (Wa,nganui A. andP. As«P cintion), Bannister (Hawke's Bay A. and P. Society), Harrap (Southland Society), Watson' (Mnnawatu K. C), Major Dunk (vice-pres£-* dent), C. R. Beattie (vice-president), Lan* (Manawatu A. and P. Society), Leighton (Manawatu K. Club). The amendment -wai therefore declared carried by 14 to 10. Th<i amendment, having become the motion, w?"3 then put and carried.
Mr Lane moved — "That tbe Manawatu K. Club, with. the approval of the following sceieties—viz.: Hawke's Bay K. and P. Club", Hawke's Bay A. and P. Society, Wanganui A. and P. Association, Egmont A. and P. Association, the Southland -Society, and the Manawatu A. and P. Association — moves to rescind the resolution passed by this club at its meeting held on May i setting up a subcommittee to allot challenge classes." Seconded by Mr Bannister. Mr Laaie, speaking to the motion, stated that he did this to give delegates an opportunity to voice- the opinion of their respective societies. After some discussion the motion w*s put, and declared lost by 13 {o 10. — Motions that the Wanganui and Hawke's Bay Chibs bs granted the challenge classes they applied for wer« ruled out of older. — Mr Lane moved that it be a recommendation to the sub-committee to allot the Hawke's Bay K. and P. Club and the Wanganui Association the challenge classes' they applied for. Lost by 12 votes to 10. Mr Greuside tendered his resignation as a member of the sub-committee set up to allot challenge classes. — The resignation was accepted with regret. Mr Grensida handed in a notice of motion, for discussion at the annual meeting. The meeting then adjourned.
