A TRIBUTE.
(To Wee Janet Morrison.) Since Janet Morrison has left,
The hoose seems cauld an' bare; An' every tima that I come harne
I miss her mair an' mair.
Tfee music o' her silv'ry voice
Wis welcome sound to me, While she soma story came to tell,
An' clapped her han's wi' glee.
I listened wi' a so'arnn air
Till a' she had to say; An' syne I'd stroke her on the cheek,
An' sen' her aff to play.
I've seen her sad when things gaed wrang,
An' teardrops in her 'cc, Whilo pleading hard to set them richt,
Beside her rnither's knee,
But even then she had 'a charm
That's only seen but rare; True love an' truth were there revealed, As she her faults laid bare.
Her Lormie smile, her sparkling 'ecu. Were sunshine to my heart; 'Twis kennin a' her wmnin' ways That made it hard to part. — Johh H'GiASEiSr.
