SOME NOTES FOR THE SOUTHLAND L.F.
Dear Dot, — Club matters down this way are progressing very satisfactorily. Several new members have been .elected, and some of the old ones are putting in an appearance after a considerable time of absence. Great preparations, I hear, are being mads iust now for ths coming social in August, and if all goes well it bids- fs>ir to outshine anything in that line yet held.
Whispers have reached me that a certain D.L.F is going to put the whole show away, and inform all and sundry who Southland Critic is: but I would remind that L.F. that ■she has first to find out the "show." You cannot keep anything dark with a Morepork about.
It is to be hoped that the club's finances are in a good healthy state, as I have heard a rumour to the effect that there is some chance of an account for a new -camera being placed in the secretary's hands as the result of taking; a- recent group.
In- connection with the above, the following conversation was overheard the other evening- "I wonder if it is really his own, or dofs he wear a wig? " — "Oh, yes, it's his own all right." — "How do you know?" — "Because I pulled it that night." Can anyone inform me to which person and what uight this refers? Southland Cynic was in good form the other week. Did a fine sprint from the Point to the Bluff railway station one Sunday recently.
On dit: —
That the fame of the club must have travelled far indeed, for the Russians are now taking an interest in the movement — in fact, so much so that we now have the distinction of having one, by name Regroikerofski (goodness me, how did I get over it? I am quite exhausted), included in the membership.
That tho president is bringing an action for defamation of character against the serious secretary in connection with a recent debate. That Kewa's norn de plume should be Smiler.
That Tika and Dado are now Aunt Tika and Aunt Dado.
Tha,t Hazel considers M'Gruer's corner the best site for seeing the sights on Saturday afternoon.
Thjit Zea-lia has a fine pianoforte selection in hand for the coming social. That Morepork and Ita are going to bring down the house with their songs. That Ceres is not going home witkoui having a dance at the said function.
That there is some likelihood of Maidie leaving the district. Xhat Quago is doing splendidly, and can give points to the Soutlilp£.cl Clitic, who piesents her compliments, and wishes Quago all manner of good tbings. That the Critic lias said enousli, and must now bid adieu In all the L.F. until next time. With love to Dot, the editor, and Quago,
SOUTHLAND CRITIC.
