The Southland Standard understands that after making exhaustive inquiries as to the origin of tho fatal fire at Gore the police are satisfied that it was the result of accident. The final outbreak almost certainly had its origin in the second fire, which <hey think was not pronerly subdued. The wall of the cupboard" where th,- latter fire broke out did not reach to the eecond floor, and it is surmised that the flames got ever the wall and communicated themselves along the second floor to the nursery, where the fatal outbreak was discovered.
