A recent visitor to Waikaia (says the Southland Times) returns with strong opinions against the advisability of good agricultural land being dredged, stating that there is a large area there which will never again be of any use. He says that boulders, in some cases, havo been brought to the surface which render it impracticable to utilise the areas. The destruction done to land by the mining industry also meets the eye in other parts of Southland.
