At the Addington Yards to-day tho entries of stock, except of fat sheep and fat cattle, ■were only fair, and there was a moderate attendance. Beef showed a recovery in values, but store sheep did not meet with quite so much inquiry, and fat lambs were about the same as the previous week. Fat sheep sold without change, except prime wethers, which were firmer. Heavy-weight bacon pigs showed a little improvement, but other classes were again dull of sale. Dairy cows sold well, but there were only a few odd lots of store cattle offered.
Store Sheep. — There was a small entry, consisting chiefly of wethers. Ov/ing to the break in the weather they did not sell so freely as of late. The principal sales were : 363 two and four-tooth wetherß at 17s 9d, 574 at 17s, 52 two-tooth at 14s 3d, 63 hoggets (wethers) at 15s, 100 a* 14s 9d, 24 (shorn) at 14s Id, 107 at 13s 6d, and 139 aged ewes at 13s Id.
Fat Lambs. — There was a moderate entry, which sold under good competition at late rates. Ten sold at from 19s 6d to 225; lamb weights. 17s to 19s ; lighter, 16s to 16s 9d.
Fat Sheep —There was a fairly heavy yarding, including some very prime lines of wethers, which sold at slightly increased ra-t-es. Other classes of wethers and ewes brought about the previous week's values. The range of prices was : Prime wethers, 22s to 255 ; extra, to 26s 10d; medium, 19s 6d to 21s 6d; light, 17s 7d to 19s; prime ewes, 19s to 225; extra, to 255 ; medium, 17s 6d to 18s 9d ; aged, 14s to 17 3 .
Fat Cattle. — The entry numbered 195, and consisted mostly of prime quality. There Were a number of lots passed at first, but bidding improved and the passed lots were afterwards sold, a good clearance being effected at improved rates. Eight steers from Messrs H. D. and J. F. Buchanan (Kinloch) made £9 10s to J612; 10 steers from Mr A. Birdling (Lansdowne), £8 12s' to £10 12s 6d; and 13 steers from Gr. Geddings (Fernside), £7 to £8 10s. Other steers brought £& 12s 611 to JEIO 2s Gd; heifers, £5 7s 6d to £7 2s 6d; and cows, £4 Ss 6d to £7 12s 6d— equal to 19s to 21s for prime (a few extra at 225), and cows and inferior 15s to 18s per 1001b. A fair entry of veal calves sold at 7s 6d to £3 each.
Store and Dairy Cattle. — There were only a few lots of store cattle penned, and there was little demand for them. Calves sold at 7s 6d to 13s ; 18 months, £2 13s ; two and a-half-year steers, £i 2s 6d (passed) ; dry cows, 29s to £2 17s. Daiiy cows were in brisk demand, and the best sorts sold at £8 to £10 17s 6d, and others £i to £7 10s.
Pigs- — There was a medium yarding, which sold irregularly. Heavy baconcrs were in bstter request, but porkers were easier ; ■while there was a dull demand for stores, which weie mostly small. Light baconers made 35s to 40s. and heavier 45s to 56?— equal to 3Jd to 4d per lb ; porkers, 23s to 32s— equal to 4d to 4£d per lb: medium stores, 15s to 22s 6d; slips, lls to 143; weaners, 5s to 10s.
