The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,040,000 quarters, and for the Continent 2,155,000 quarters. The Atlantic shipments were 67,000 quarters, and the Pacific 36,000 qiiarters. Australian prompt and" May shipments sold at 32s 3d. Stocks and shares are unchanged. May 31. At the tallow sales 1246 casks were offered and 1009 sold. Mutton: Fine, 28s 6d; medium, 265. Beef: Fine, 26s 3d; medium, 245. Consols are quoted at JE9I 2s 6d. June 2. The Bank of England returns show the atock of gold coin and bullion to be £35,948,000 ; reserve, £26,836,000; percentage of jreserve to liabilities, 50.32. The notes in circulation total £29,500,000 ; - public deposits, £ll,o"9,000 ; other deposits, £4-,614>G00 ; Government securities, £15,750,000 ; other securities. £28,416,000. Three months' bills are '-discounted" at"' 2 1-16 per cent. (Consols are quoted at £91 7s 6d. The wheat markets are rather easier — -the 'English, owing to heavy arrivals off the coast, the Continental as the result of better crop prospects, and the American owing to the collapse of the attempt to corner the July wheat. Holders of cargoes generally are firm, but the tendency is in buyers' favour. An Australian cargo sold at 31s, and another at 31s 6d. The American ' .visible supply of wheat is 30,254.000 bushels. Flour is recovering. London quotations are 23s 6d, and Glasgow from 23s 9d to 245. Butter is firm, owing to the continuance of dry weather. Danish is unchanged; New Zealand, 96s to 98s. A ' little Australian- is offering, and Nevr South Wales- is quoted at 925. The cheese market is unchanged. Tallow : Stock, 10,900 casks ; imports, 8334 casks ; deliveries. 6913 casks. ' Copper : Spot, £65 ss ; three months, £65 10s. Tin: Spot, £136 to £136 10s: three months, £135 to £135 10s. Stock, 14,207 tons ; spot, 2712 tons ; afloat, 4061 tons ; and deliveries, 2711 tons. Pig iron, 45s 9d. Lead, £12 17s 6d to £12 18s 9d. , Spelter, £23 10s to £23 12s 6d. Silver, 2s 2 9-16 d per oz. , Sugar is firm. First marks, 13s IQd; German, lls lOd. The Bradford wool market is very firm, arid good business is passing. Forties, 16d j forty-sixes, 18d ; common sixties, 23fd ; super, 25id. June 4.
