THE WI NTER SHOW.

ENTRIES COMING IN FREELY. Saturday. Tho entries for the winter show, which opens on Juno 14-, havo been coming in very freely, and the competition this year in meet of the classes will be exceedingly keen. In bread and scones there are record entries. Exceptional interest is this year being taken in the factory oheese and butter, larga prizes for which are being awarded to fchc cheese and butter makers whose factory output for the season gains the highest average number of points according to the certificates issued by the Government graders. A large number of factories have entered for these prizes, and the competition is most exciting. The managers of the successful factories will be notified o£ the results at the opening of the show on the 14th inst. In roots, grain, etc., there i*4 exoedingly good oompeitition, as also m the live stock classes. Altogether the coming show promises to be the most successful yet held under the auspices of the Otago A. and P. Sociaty. For tha eonvenienco of patrons of the show tihe stalk of the theatre will be used an each day to enable visitors to rest, while a string band has been engaged to play during tha afternoon and evening on tha stage. A monster cheese loaded with coin will be cut up and sold during tho show, and numerous attractions have been added to cater for the amusement of all. The lunches and afternoon tea this year will be provided downstairs, which arrangement will be found much more convenient t) tae visitors to the show. The Garrison Band has been engaged to play, and the Highland Pipers will, as usual, discourse music to suit the popular taste. AU th.s available space has been taken up«

The prize list this year has been considerably increased, which is no doubt tending rowards the satisfactory inorease in the | entries.
