NOTES BY TOUCHER.

The annual meeting of the Caledonian Bowling Club takes place on Wednesday evening, May 31, for the election of officebearers and the presentation of prizes. In former years this club held its meeting in the latter part of August.

The Dunedin Club closed its green, on "Wednesday (Empire. Bay), when it had enjoyable weather and a good attendance of visiting bowlers. Amongst those present

wore Messrs C. J. Payne, R. T. Wheeler, and C. T. Paterson, members of the Now Zealand Bowling Association.

CJaversham has not as yet closed its green for this season. I hear that the members *r« thinking of extending the green.

At Adelaide last month a new green weu> opened at Norwood. The necessary money was raked by £1 debenut-es, bear ing interst at 5 per cen , in a similar manner to that adopted by the St. Claxr Bowling Olub. At Sydney last week a start was made with the Rawson Trophy competition. Th« trophy i=> a presentation made by his Excellency Sir Harry Rawson. One of the conditions is that the trophy must be won three times by a club before it becomes the absolute property of that body. This i 3 the third year of the contest, and Petersham, has won it on each of the two previous occasions ; so if that club is succ< ssful this year it becomes its property.

C'ty Bowling Olub (Sydney), on Saturday week, went out to Rand-wick, and with. what some considered a comparatively weak ■team ; defeated a crowd of giants from Waver ley, and thereby scooped in the pennant. The match ebbed and flowed considerably. City went off with a rush, and was leading by 20 in no time. "Waverley removed its waistcoat and braces, tucked up its pants, and settled down for a long, stern chase. At the end of the twentieth; head it had made up the leeway, and tlie score stood 72 all. City undid its collar, put its pipe in its pocket, and looked grave. Waverley went to the front, but did not seem wildly enthusiastic over the fact. City came again, and it was anybody's, game- till, right at the last, several rinks failed badly, and the game ended : City 94, Waverley B*. The result was a surprise, but now some of the City men have a haunting suspicion that the arrangement by which the victors had to pay for the banquet might have had s,onie mysterious connection with, the l'tsulr. A number of the North Britons out Waverley vav were observed to he wearing a look of keen satisfaction at chat banquet. S.A. bowls premiership has been won by the first-established Adelaide Club, but tht "rink" championship went to a four from - Oval Olub. including eriefce-t seer-etarj rVo« we n and W. J. P. Davies, the champion walker. DUNEDIN CLUB. The Dunedin Club's was closed on Wednesday, when a very enjoyable game was played, President v. Vice-president, the forme: proving victorious by 10 points. A fair num\o r o t -- from other clubs were present, aruongt being Messrs R. T. Wheeler, T. Sneddon, C. J. Payne, Captain Sundstrum, C. T. Paterson, R. H. Coltman, and others. An excellent afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the club, which was much appreciated At the close of the match the President (Mi Sinclair) made a happy speech, expressing th. pleasure the club felt at so many members of other clubs being present, to which Mi Payne responded. The green played excellently, and did the utmost credit to Mitch-ell, the green-keeper. Players and scores. — PBEStDENT. Vice-president. J. F. Marshall E. F. Black J. C. Hodges H. F. Moss J.
