A BOMB DISASTER.

1 ST. PETERSBURG, May 16. Failing to disperse a midnight street diemonstration of Russian and Jewish Socialists, the police at Warsaw summoned the infantry patrol, who fired a volley, wounding several. May 17. A bomb thrown at the police at Riga injured two, one fatally. A third was shot dead while pursuing the assailants. Four workmen were sentenced to death by a court-martial at Warsaw in connection with the disturbances in January. A higher court-martial at Moscow annulled the sentence, as the offences took place prior to the institution of martial law. General Sokolovsky, Governor-General of "Ufa, was thrice shot at and wounded!, it is feared fatally, during an entertainment in the public gardens. His assailant escaped. The Committee of Ministers, has decided to permit Jewish artisans to reside in any part of Russia. May 18. Extensive strikes have occurred in the Volga provinces. I Kolaieft* was executed at Moscow for the murder of the Grand Duke Sergiue. May 20. Last month the Warsaw police discovered a plot to assassinate General Maksimovitch, the Governor-general. Since then he has frequently been threatened with bombs owing to the suppression of the May Day demonstrations and the shootings cabkd on the 16th. In consequence he has been specially protected. A few minutes before he and the officials were leaving Warsaw Castle yesterday to attend a cathedral service in honour of the Czar's birthday, a Polish revoke tionary Socialist, a shoemaker named Dobrowolski, seated outside a cafe near the cathedral, looked nervously towards the castle. His demeanour exciting suspicion, two detectives approached from opposite directions. Each seized him by the hands, causing a bomb to drop from Dobrowolski's pocket. The bomb exploded, and Dobrowolski and a detective were killed and 21 injured, including three ladies, a. student, and two schoolboys. Three were seriously injured. Many arrests have been made. May 21. Prior to the explosion of the bomb at Warsaw, the emissaries of Dobrowolski, the Polish revolutionary Socialist, who was carrying the bomb intended to put an end to the Governor-general, warned all poor people not to approach the cafe.
